With summer nearly here, it’s the perfect time to do outdoor activities with your family. Being outdoors has so many benefits for your kids, from soaking in the vitamin D to getting more physical activity. Here are some awesome activities that you can do together right in your back yard!
Have a Picnic
Grab an oversized blanket, some sandwiches and your favorite drinks, and have a backyard picnic! When everyone’s done eating, throw some balls around, toss a frisbee, or blow some bubbles for some extra fun.
Play Yard Games
Get out the yard games and have some fun! Lawn bowling or ring toss are game the whole family can enjoy. They can be purchased online, or you can make them with materials your have at home. If your family is competitive, put a friendly wager on the games to make them more exciting!
Have a Water Balloon Fight
Is there anything better than a good old-fashioned water balloon fight? On a warm summer day, gather up the entire block for a giant water balloon fight. Separate into teams with different colors, and the last team standing wins!
Have water foam shooters or other water guns available for extra fun. Let everyone run through the sprinkler or slip n slide after they’re already wet.
Set Up an Obstacle Course
Find objects around the house or yard to set up an obstacle course in the yard. Grab hula hoops, jump ropes, chairs, pool noodles, and anything else you can use to create hurdles and activities that participants have to complete before they move on to the next area.
If your child has a ride-on toy, this activity would be a great place to incorporate it. There are many obstacle course ideas you can integrate an electric ride-on car into.
Make the most of the warmer months with these backyard activities the whole family will love. What family wouldn’t appreciate the bonding time? Pick one or all of them, and have a great summer!
