This confetti popper craft is so fun and easy to make, and your kids will have a blast using it to ring in the new year!
The new year is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with confetti?
Kids of all ages will have fun with this confetti popper (my 1 year old has a blast with this)! And yes, it will create a big mess…but that’s half the fun, right?
What materials do I need?
The best thing about making the confetti popper is that it doesn’t use any crazy materials. In fact, you probably already have everything you need!
The must-haves are: a toilet paper roll, a balloon, packing tape, and confetti.
My son and I made our own confetti with scrap paper and different shaped hole punchers. Of course, you could always buy confetti.
How do you make this new years confetti popper?
Materials:
- 1 toilet paper roll
- 1 balloon
- heavy duty tape, such as packing tape
- confetti
Optional things for decorating:
Step 1: Tie the balloon, then cut off the top as picture below.
Step 2: Stretch the balloon around one end of the toilet paper roll, then tape the balloon’s edge to secure it into place.
Step 3: Decorating is completely up to you. Get creative with it! I glued colored paper around the toilet paper roll, then cut “2021” out of foil and glued it on.
Step 4: When it’s decorated and completely dry (if anything was glued onto it), fill the tube with confetti. Make sure the confetti goes all the way down into the balloon. Then aim the tube, pull the balloon back, then quickly release the balloon. POOF! The confetti will pop out! Have fun!
