This easy homemade pea baby food puree combines naturally sweet peas with a hint of oregano. Made with just two ingredients, it's a simple way to introduce new flavors to babies around 6 months and older!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Equipment

  • Baby Brezza Food Maker

Method

  1. Add the frozen peas and dried oregano to the Baby Brezza Food Maker. Set the machine to steam for 20 minutes and puree automatically, following your machine's instructions.
  2. Once the cooking cycle is complete, check that the peas are fully cooked and the puree is blended to a texture appropriate for your baby. Blend again if necessary.
  3. Allow the puree to cool to a safe serving temperature before serving. If needed, add a small amount of water, prepared baby formula, or breast milk to adjust the consistency.
Alternative method (without a Baby Brezza):
  1. Steam or boil the frozen peas for approximately 5–10 minutes, or until tender and fully cooked. Drain if boiled, then blend with the oregano and a little water, prepared formula, or breast milk until smooth.

Notes

  • Recipe Tips:
    • For a smoother puree, use a high-powered blender. Pea skins can sometimes leave the puree slightly textured.
    • Add a small amount of water, prepared formula, or breast milk if needed to thin the puree.
    • Try substituting oregano with a little dill, mint, or basil for different flavor combinations.
    • Introduce peas and oregano separately before combining them if either ingredient is new to your baby.
    • Refrigerate homemade baby food promptly in an airtight container for 1–2 days, or freeze in individual portions for 1–2 months.
    • Discard any leftovers from your baby's serving bowl.
Feeding Note: This recipe is intended for babies who are developmentally ready for solid foods, typically around 6 months of age. Serve in an age-appropriate texture and consult your pediatrician if you have questions about feeding readiness, allergies, or your baby's nutritional needs.
