Learning Fractions with Pumpkin Pie Playdough

How do you make pumpkin pie playdough?

Pumpkin pie playdough looks and smells like pumpkin pie!

Pie Filling:

Step 1: Add all of the dry ingredients to a cool pot, and whisk together. Then, add the water, oil and food coloring (mix red and yellow together to achieve the shade of orange that you want) and whisk together until it is smooth.

Step 2: Place the pot over medium heat and stir continuously until it forms a dough ball. It may take about 3-5 minutes.

Step 3: Remove the playdough from the pot and let it cool on parchment paper, a plate, or a sheet pan.

Pie Crust:

Use all of the ingredients for the pie filling, except the food coloring. (The cinnamon will color the playdough to look like a crust.) Follow the same steps above for making the pie crust playdough.

Print these sheets and place them in plastic sheet protectors. Then, let your kids create their own pumpkin pies and practice cutting them into equal parts to serve.

You can role play with them, changing the number of guests at your party, and having them cut and serve accordingly.
