Quick and Easy Chia Jam

5 from 2 votes
Homemade jam just got easier and healthier! This chia jam is ready in about 10 minutes!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Course: Sauces
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fruit fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • honey, maple syrup or sweetener of your choice to taste

Method

  1. Add the fruit to a sauce pan over medium heat and cook it until the fruit breaks down.
  2. Mix in the chia seeds and lemon juice, then remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes (this gives the chia time to do its magic and thicken the jam).
  3. Add the fruit mixture to a blender or food processor and blend everything together. Then, give it a taste and sweeten it to your liking.
  4. Serve immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks or the freezer for 3 months.

Notes

If you like your jam chunky, simply smash the fruit with a potato masher or the back of a spoon before adding the chia seeds and lemon, and don’t blend it.
Try different berries and fruits for your jam! I made strawberry, blueberry and strawberry-peach and they were all delicious!
