Fun Facts About St. Patrick’s Day for Kids:

  • Who Was St. Patrick? St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century.
  • Why the Shamrock? St. Patrick used the shamrock (a three-leafed plant) to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity to the Irish people. That’s why it’s such an important symbol on St. Patrick’s Day.
  • The Pot of Gold Myth: According to Irish legend, leprechauns hide their pots of gold at the end of a rainbow. But be warned – you might never find the end of the rainbow!
  • Lucky Charms: Did you know that the four-leaf clover is considered lucky? It’s said to bring good fortune, but they’re rare to find. If you do find one, it’s believed to bring you luck in love, health, wealth, and happiness!

Step 4: Cut out a small rectangular piece from the leftover cardstock. Bend the piece of cardstock around the lifted part of the rainbow, and secure it in the back with tape. Make sure the piece is not too tight — it should be able to slide up and down the rainbow.

Step 5: Tape the leprechaun to the rectangular piece of cardstock on the rainbow. Slide the leprechaun up and down the rainbow to help him get to his pot of gold!
