Easter is around the corner, so my kids and I are doing Easter crafts to get in the spirit! Potato stamping is always a hit with them, and this was no exception.
Potato stamping is great because:
- kids can design their own stamps
- it allows for creativity in choosing color combinations and placement of stamps
- kids who are still developing fine motor skills will have an easy time griping the stamp
- it is a budget friendly, yet super fun craft activity

Let’s do Easter Egg Potato Stamping!
Supplies:
- paper
- paint
- paintbrushes (optional)
- potato
- toothpick
- knife
Step 1: Cut the potato in half lengthwise so it resembles the shape of an egg.
Step 2: Use a toothpick to carve designs into the “Easter egg.” If your child is old enough, they can do it themselves, but this will most likely have to be done by an adult. If your child can’t do it, let them tell you what kind of designs they would like.
Step 3: Your child can either dip the egg into a little bit of paint, or use a paintbrush to paint on multiple colors. Then, stamp it on a piece of paper and repeat! If your child wants to change colors between stamping, simply wipe off the paint with a paper towel.
