When should I introduce finger foods to my baby?

Is there a vegan option?
This recipe contains egg and milk. If your baby is vegan, or has an egg or dairy allergy, you can still make this recipe!
To substitute a flax egg or chia egg for the chicken egg, simply mix together 1 tablespoon of ground flax seeds or ground chia seeds and 3 tablespoons of water. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then add it to the recipe.
Your favorite non-dary milk can be substituted for the cow’s milk.
How can I store the Toddler Zucchini + Carrot Fritters?
These fritters can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
To freeze them, put them on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 3+ hours, until they are completely frozen. Then, store them in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 3 months.

How do you make Toddler Zucchini + Carrot Fritters?
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup of zucchini, grated
- 1/4 cup of carrots, grated
- a handful of fresh herbs, chopped (cilantro, parsley, chives, green onions, etc.)
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup of flour
- pinch of salt (you can omit this for babies under 1)
Equipment:
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350º F.
Step 2: Grate the zucchini and carrots.
Step 3: In a mixing bowl, combine the egg and milk.
Step 4: Add the zucchini, carrots and herbs and mix well.
Step 5: Add the flour and salt (optional) and gently mixed until combined. Don’t over mix it.
Step 6: Use a tablespoon to spoon the batter onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
Step 7: Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges begin to turn golden brown.

This recipe is great! Although it would be better with garlic. I made it today and added some garlic and it turned out flavorful. Also frying it would come out nicer I think, but those who are trying it out for baby led weaning this is great! Very healthy and delicious!

Could you use whole wheat flour? Zucchini is pretty “wet”, so maybe ti wouldn’t be as dry? (since whole wheat usually absorbs more liquid!). Has anyone tried?!

I made them with whole wheat and the all purpose. My all purpose came out just like yours: fluffy and smooth. The whole wheat comes out a bit more rough – not as smooth, but my almost-9month old still enjoyed both! 🙂 I could maybe use a tbsp or so less of the flour to see if that would make it closer in texture to the all-purpose, but regardless– they worked for my kiddo! 🙂

For the herbs are we choosing one out of the one you listed or all of them?

If your child already loves a lot of herbs, you can use a combination. If not, I would suggest starting choosing one to start with.
Can you use broccoli instead of zucchini in these?
I haven’t tried it, but I’m sure it would taste great! You may want to steam the broccoli, then cut it into small pieces before adding it to the batter. If you do try it, let me know how it turns out! 🙂
I have these in the oven now. Only I was out of flour so I used baby cereal..not sure if they’ll turn out. Has anyone tried this?

I have these in the oven now! I used 1 Tblsp chia seeds added to 3 Tblsp water, let sit for 5 min. (to replace egg). These are for my great-grandson age 17 months. He loves zucchini so hoping he’ll line these! I also make a sweet potato and broccoli tot that he loves too!
