What Is a Cornucopia?
A cornucopia, also called the “horn of plenty,” is a traditional symbol of abundance and harvest. Today, it’s a classic Thanksgiving decoration often filled with fruits, vegetables, or fall goodies. These ice cream cone versions turn a traditional symbol into a fun, edible treat your kids can help make.

How to Make Ice Cream Cone Cornucopias

These edible cornucopias take just a few minutes and require only a handful of supplies.
You’ll Need:
- sugar ice cream cones
- water
- Thanksgiving candy (I used candy corn, pumpkins and Sixlets)
- plastic wrap
- string
Step 1: Soften the Cone
Dip the bottom of a sugar cone in water for a few seconds—just enough for it to absorb a little moisture without getting soggy. Microwave the cone on high for 20 seconds.

Step 2: Shape the Cornucopia
While the cone is warm, gently bend the tip to form a curved “horn.”
If it doesn’t bend easily, re-dip, microwave for another 5–10 seconds, and try again.

Step 3: Fill With Candy
Add your favorite festive candies inside the cone to create the “bountiful harvest” look.

Step 4: Wrap (Optional)
Wrap the cone in plastic and secure with string or ribbon if you’re giving them as party favors or school treats.
