While it doesn’t happen to all babies, many babies (like mine) become fussy eaters while teething. This happened with my son and is currently happening with my daughter.
This smoothie is great for her because she can get all of these great nutrients without having to chew. The cold smoothie also helps to soothe her gums.
If your baby can’t drink out of a straw yet, you can always spoon-feed it to her.
Making popsicles out of this smoothie is another great idea for teething babies. The frozen pops will soothe their sore gums.

How do you make the Berry, Banana & Avocado Smoothie?

Making this smoothie is so quick and easy. The key, though, is to use overripe, frozen bananas. These of course need to be prepped ahead of time. Here are my tips for freezing bananas.
Overripe bananas are naturally very sweet, which is why I don’t add any sweetener to this smoothie. Using frozen bananas helps to make this smoothie cold and thick.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of frozen mixed berries
- 1/2 cup of frozen ripe bananas
- 1/2 an avocado (or 1 small avocado)
- 1 tablespoon of hemp hearts
- 1 tablespoon of oats
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (or other non-dairy milk)
*My family loves this smoothie without any sweetener, but if you’d like to add some, you can use some agave or honey (not for kids under 1 year old).
Equipment:
Method:
Step 1: Add the oats and hemp hearts to a blender and blend until it forms a powder (about 30 seconds – 1 minute).

Step 2: Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. This recipe makes a thick smoothie, so you may have to stop and stir the mixture a few times. If you don’t want your smoothie to be too thick, simply add more almond milk.

Step 3: Pour into your favorite cup and serve immediately. Enjoy!
